Compress a photo without uploading it anywhere
Most "free" image compressors ask you to upload your photo to a company's server, then put a size cap, a queue, or a paywall in front of the download. Shrink does the whole job in your browser. Your picture is decoded, resized and re-encoded by your own device, and the smaller file appears immediately. There is no upload, no account, and no limit on how many you do.
How to use it
- Pick how small — three levels covering almost every real need, or type an exact size in MB if something is asking for one.
- Add your images — choose them, drop them in, or paste a screenshot straight from your clipboard. Several at once is fine.
- Save — every image shows what it was, what it is now, and how much smaller that is. Save one, save all, or share them straight into another app.
What it does to your image
Shrink reduces the file size two ways: it lowers the JPEG quality a little, and, when that is not enough on its own, it reduces the pixel dimensions. It never adds a watermark, never crops, and never changes the colours. Photos with transparent backgrounds are saved as WebP so the transparency survives; everything else is saved as a JPEG, which is what almost every form and email client expects.
If a file is already about as small as it can get, Shrink says so and hands you back the original rather than making it worse.
Why is this free?
